			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hi I am a freshman in college. I had a few offers to play collegiate golf and turned them down (just did not like alot of the schools I got offered to play for). Now I want to be able to play collegiate golf [Again] and hopefully be able to play on the D1 level entering into my junior year of college. Before I turned down collegiate golf, the coach I was about to play for did a tremendous job on my swing and he also told me the aspects of my body I should workout on so I used an app on my phone to know which workouts to do for these certain body parts and after I started doing this my flexibility greatly increased, but I plateaued :/ so I want to know what I should do concerning a workout for my golf game. I have heard that P90x has helped a lot of golfers in their golf game, but I was not sure if it would bulk me up too much and mess up my swing. Is there anything out there that you recommend? I am 5&#8242;9&quot; and my weight varies from 130-135 lbs. I would not mind bulking a little bit actually would prefer it, but I still want that flexibility that I need. I can handle just about any workout I have had a good amount of experience being in other sports and athletics. Currently P90x is at the top of my list for this. Also, I know it would be best to workout after I practice my golf game on a day, but would it be ok to workout before after my classes?</p>
<p>People who have had experience with this workout scenario would be great to hear from, but I am all ears to anyone <img src='http://www.effectivegolfexercises.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  and extra information you have for me would be greatly appreciated!</p>
<p>Also, please do not me tell &quot;work on your back, core, legs, and shoulders&quot; because I have already heard that enough. Details would be awesome (what the workout does, body parts it will help, etc&#8230;) And no smart a** response about distance does not matter when you still three putt, because I hardly ever do. I had only one three putt out of all my tournaments combined in the last summer. ;]</p>

<br />P90X is good but if you want to work more golf related muscles than you should look into the Titleist Performance institute. it focuses more on the golf related muscles and is built to help your golf game.</p>

<p> Leg Extension  1 set of 8-12 repetitions </p>
<p> Leg Curl  1 set of 8-12 repetitions </p>
<p> Leg Press  1 set of 8-12 repetitions </p>
<p> Chest Fly  1 set of 8-12 repetitions </p>
<p> Chest Press  1 set of 8-12 repetitions </p>
<p> Pull Over  1 set of 8-12 repetitions </p>
<p> Seated Row  1 set of 8-12 repetitions </p>
<p> Lateral Raise  1 set of 8-12 repetitions </p>
<p> Seated Press  1 set of 8-12 repetitions </p>
<p> Abdominal Crunch  1 set of 8-12 repetitions </p>
<p> Lower Back Extensions  1 set of 8-12 repetitions </p>
<p> Rotary Torso Exercise  1 set of 8 repetitions on each side. For best results, lie on your back with legs bent in a crunch position. Move your legs side to side very slowly, touching the floor. This exercise will stretch and strengthen the lower back muscles and obliques. </p>
<p>Cardio:<br />
Choose any activity that you enjoy which elevates your heart rate into the target zone for 20-60 minutes. Perform this activity 3-5 times per week. Running, biking, and brisk walking are good<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>im 14 and 5&quot;4 and weigh 130 i can hit a drive 210.Im a freshman and im trying to make the jv team the year.I shot a 51 today and i just started playing golf last year. Can you guys give me some exercises and drills to get better at golf<br />
<br />Concentrate on building your base (legs) and core (abs, back, chest). </p>
<p>Legs: squats, lunges, running, leg lifts, etc.</p>
<p>Abs/Back: crunches, sit-ups, anything that works your obliques to help with all the twisting you&#8217;ll encounter in golf; supermans, other LIGHT exercises for your back &#8211; don&#8217;t over do it!</p>
<p>Chest: bench press (level, incline, decline), butterfly press, push-ups</p>
<p>Check Men&#8217;s Health for other exercise ideas.</p>
<p>One other tip: work on your balance and flexibility &#8211; range of motion is important in most sports, but comes into play quite a bit in golf. Keep yourself limber and flexible and you&#8217;ll get an extra power boost.</p>

I plan to have a heavy workout on day 1, then 2 days off, then a light, golf orientated workout on day 4, followed by one day off before playing a round of golf. This will leave anothers days rest before starting Day 1 again. Does this programme sound good? Will there be enough rest time of a day before a round of golf as I cant play if im achey. Thanks for all the help people.<br />
<br />muscles need 24 to 48 hours of rest inbetween workouts.  So your routine does not sound that bad. However the light workout a day before a round of golf may leave you worn out depending on what you work out. I usually dont do anything 2 days before my golf day.</p>

<br />titlelist has a cd of a workout routine, it is great because it is taught by someone that plays the game and knows what muscles are used to play the game. Sorry but i dont know the name of it but im sure that if you go to their website its on there somewhere. As far as green reading try this imagine that you have a glass of water and picture underhanding the water towards the hole, think about where you think the water will go in relation to the slope of the green.</p>

I run around 3 miles a day and do 30 push ups 50 squirts 200 meters frog jump,weights and my <a href="http://www.effectivegolfexercises.com/golffitnesschallenge"  style=""  rel="nofollow" >golf exercises</a> so do i need to do something more.cause in my last tournament i kind of was not properly physically fit.<br />
<br />From my experience in longer tourny&#8217;s the most important parts of your body to focus on are the big muscles. Stomach, back, and legs. Running 3 miles a day is plenty. The key is staying hydrated and nourished. If you do all of those things you&#8217;ll be fine.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>What are some good golf workouts to improve distance/strength and balance? I&#8217;m 14 and hit the ball at the most 260 or 250. Sometimes I lose balance after swinging. I don&#8217;t go to a gym but i have some weights and a treadmill in my house.<br />
<br />You&#8217;ll do best by using those weights as well as your body weight to get a full-body routine going, but try to focus on the core and lower body.</p>
<p>Lower body: squats, thrusts, leg lifts &amp; curls, sprinting, jump rope</p>
<p>Core: sit-ups/curls/crunches (including to the side for your obliques), supermans for your abs and back.</p>
<p>Arms/shoulders: bicep/tricep curls, pull-ups, push-ups, dips, military press</p>
<p>Yoga, pilates, running and other stretching can increase your flexibility and range of motion, which should add distance. Look into getting a DVD or book (can even be for free from your library) or take a class if you can afford it.</p>
<p>Run on the treadmill, swim, bike, jump rope, etc. to increase your overall fitness and stamina, or to warm up/cool down before or after your strength routines.</p>
<p>Hopefully you&#8217;re already walking when you play a round, if not quit the cart &#8211; you&#8217;ll save money and get more of a workout.</p>

<br />you should practice dribbling using 1 and 2 basketballs. also shoot about 500 if not more shots everyday. finally work out, it helps with every sport.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>its about time to start practicing the golf game again and im looking to have a good summer. im looking for a good workout that will help me with every aspect of the game. Im a scratch golfer so i want a somewhat intense workout. ive been running alot and doing abs but it just seems like i should be working some more specific muscle groups. so any ideas on what exercises to do?<br />
<br />First off the running routine is good. You should run lightly for 20-30 minutes, or play basketball or football competitively to warm up. Then, abs are good, but you want core strength and flexibility. You also want flexibility and arm strength. I am 15, and a highly competitive junior golfer, plus 2.4 handicap, and I use a Bosu ball in order for balance (like a therapy ball but with the bottom flat) and core strength. I then use ropes as well for bicep curls because it helps strength with flexibility. This workout should take an hour, and if you do it 2 to 3 times a week you can get a lot better. I used to hit it about 230 with the driver, and now I&#8217;m out there 270</p>

<br />Okay, if you are serious, you need not pay attention to any other post regarding this matter&#8230;.simply lay back and thank the golf gods for what I&#8217;m about to tell you.</p>
<p>We&#8217;re only focusing on what you need to do at the gym or at home to &quot;workout&quot; no swing tips here.</p>
<p>1.  Core-  By this I mean your abs and lower back.  Crunches are the age-old way to strengthen your abs and obliques.  However, a more golf swing related workout is as follows:</p>
<p>Get yourself either a heavy metal bar (20-40 lbs.)  or a weight that you&#8217;d slide on a bench bar (25-35lbs.)  With the bar resting across the back of your neck and shoulders, you are going to twist slowly to your right and back to the left&#8230;.you must focus on flexing your abs each way.  If you go too fast, you are going to hurt yourself, the importance here is flexing those muscles and keeping good posture.  You are going to do pretty much the same movement if you are using just the weight&#8230;hold at stomach height and do the same motion.  Since all of the weight is centered you&#8217;ll be able to go a bit faster with this workout, but be careful and concenctrate on flexing those abs.</p>
<p>2.  Arms-  Only about 30% of your power is going to come from your upper body so you don&#8217;t need to over work your arms or chest.  If you can go to the gym, find one of the cable multi-workout stations and attach one of the single handle attatchments.  Adjust the height to about shoulder height.  Grab the handle with your right arm, position your body so that your right arm is bent forward so the cable is across your chest.  Extend your arm and repeat 15-20 times.  You have to find the weight that works for you.  Repeat with your left arm.  Incorporate some basic bicep curls once or twice a week to counteract the previously mentioned excercise.  You can simulate these at home if you can find anything small that has some weight.  For arm extensions like I mentioned first above, lay on your side on a bench or the edge of your bed and you can let your lower arm droop across your belly and extend it upwards.  Your arm can either be bent 90 degrees at the elbow or you can let it hang across your chest down to the ground.</p>
<p>3.  Back.  The seated row is great for your back and rear shoulders.  Remember 15-20 reps requires a little bit of a lighter weight.  Good posture while seated will ensure you get a little bit of a lower back workout while doing this one.  If you can&#8217;t get to the gym, then try doing dips.  If you can get a couple of sturdy coffee tables, position yourself between them one hand on each, feet extended out in front of you on the floor and dip down as far as you can go and back up.  Unfortunately, there isn&#8217;t a whole lot you can do at home for your back if you don&#8217;t have weights.  You can try doing a handstand up against a door and pushing yourself up and down but this is more for shoulders and is very hard&#8230;.especially when all your blood is rushing to your head.</p>
<p>4.  Legs.  I hate working out my legs but since 70% of your power comes from there, you better work on them.  Squats, and leg extensions are great.  Again 15-20 reps.  Also do some calf raises, your calves can handle quite a bit of weight so don&#8217;t be shy.  15-20.</p>
<p>5.  Grip.  You need a solid grip so you can pound it out of the rough like Tiger right?  So, take a dumbbell in each hand.  Let your arms hang down by your side and curl them inwards and up.  You are going to only bring them up about 3 inches or so since you are only working out your forearms.  If you aren&#8217;t at the gym, here is a good at home forearm workout.  Get a newspaper, take out one full sheet and lay it flat on a table fully opened in front of you.  Place your hand in the middle and just crumble the newspaper with one hand.  Never pick up the newspaper, just keep pulling the edges closer and closer in with the one hand until it is a ball and repeat.  Sounds easier than it is.</p>
<p>Run.  Seriously make it a point to run 3 times a week, its a great full body workout, from your lower back, to your legs and even your arms.  Not to mention your cardio health.  You need stamina out there when it comes time to make that charge for the lead on hole 68 of the Masters.  </p>
<p>There you have it, and you didn&#8217;t even have to spend 150 dollars on a personal trainer to tell you all this&#8230;&#8230;Man I&#8217;m good.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m interested in knowing how to get my drive farther and develop my muscles more for the game, and was wondering if anyone knew a good workout, or anything that might help increasing my distance off the tees and in the fairways?<br />
<br />Good question!   You don&#39;t need great strength to hit it a long way!!   You need clubhead SPEED!!   And most pros will agree that it is the WIDTH of a golfer&#39;s shoulders that allows most big hitters to generate such clubhead speed. (look at Tiger&#39;s).  Therefore, work on lateral deltoids with the weights.  Also, do a good leg and thigh workout (squats)&#8230;&#8230;you&#39;ll need strong legs for a good steady base and for that little extra &quot;push&quot; as you come into the ball.   Of course, do a balanced workout for overall strength, but hit the shoulders and legs heavy.</p>

Money Man I&#39;m not exactly a &quot;Money Man&quot; like urself i can hardly afford to play my municipal course 3 times a week and thats only $9<br />
No no no. I don&#39;t mean working on the course. I mean physical conditioning.<br />
<br />It might not be the first thing you think of, but concentrate on exercises that develop your legs and core (abs/back/chest).</p>
<p>Legs &#8211; leg lifts, running, squats, lunges&#8230;</p>
<p>Core &#8211; crunches (tons of different twists for variety and getting specific areas); back exercises (go easy, don&#39;t want to screw your back up when you&#39;re young); bench press; push-ups</p>
<p>Check out a site like MensHealth.com for other good exercises and information on proper technique, # of reps, etc.</p>
<p>A lot of your power in the golf swing comes from your legs and back. A huge upper body will still only get you so much power and distance, since the swing is a full-body motion.</p>
<p>Also, look into some balance and flexibility training. Improving your balance will help give you a strong foundation and keep you from slipping during your swings, and increasing your flexibility will increase your range of motion for another little boost.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class="sticky_post"><p>Playing golf or any sort of sports can actually help a person live longer. In a study made by experts in the field, people who play sports like golf enjoy an increase in longevity. The date rate of sports players are lower compared to those who do not play any sport of the same gender, age, and social status. The increase in life would actually amount to five years. This is how important playing the sport is. However, you can’t just start playing golf. There are some workouts that you need to follow for you to play well and of course, live longer.</p>
<p>First you need to have a goal. Setting a realistic goal for working out would give you the direction that you need. Golf experts or they who have been playing for quite some time now share the same goals of a golf workout. Here are five of them:</p>
<p>1. To improve posture for maximum playing power. Most often, players tend to keep incorrect postures or stances. When a golfer is unable to do a proper tilt of the lower pelvis region, he can lose his posture in the swing. An incorrect curve would cause real pain. There are specific exercises that can correct improper posture. <p>2. To get a grip on wrist injuries. A wrist injury can leave a professional golfer devastated. Sadly, this situation is occurs commonly among players and occurs at the impact of the club with the ball. Your grip is your sole connection to the sport and getting a wrist problem is something that can leave you crippled from playing. Repetitive motions and swinging usually place you wrists at a high risk of injury. Golf workouts can help you prevent this problem from happening. Muscular strengthening and flexibility exercises combined with pre-game workout routines would definitely help.</p>
<p>3. To prevent inflammation. After an intense round of golf, most players experience soreness in their shoulders or bum knees. These conditions are related to painful joints and muscles. Workouts can actually aid in the prevention of such problems together with proper diet. Getting your muscles and joint conditioned before playing golf would definitely make a difference.</p>
<p>4. To help decrease havoc on the back, hips, and neck. The long hours of standing in a bent over position can weaken these specific parts of your body. It is common knowledge that warming up before playing is very important. However, having a good workout before the game is most important. If you want to be a good putter without the risk of getting your neck, back and hip in danger, then you need to work out. Overhead deep squat, done with your shoulders apart with your putter held by both hands above your head and slowly squatting down to get your thighs parallel to the ground, is a good exercise.</p>
<p>5. To win the game. Only a conditioned player can actually win or do well in the game of golf. Working out before playing and performing a warm up before swinging or putting would definitely help you win the game.</p>
<p>The ultimate goal of a golf workout is of course to play well, win, and live well.</p>

<p>When you want to <a href="http://www.effectivegolfexercises.com/golffitnesschallenge" >maximize your performance on the green</a>, you&#8217;ll soon see that there are many different options that are open to you.  The first and most important thing that you can do to improve your golf game, though is to start working out and conditioning your body.  To get the best performance while you are out on the field, start putting some time in at the gym.  It can be a little confusing as to what you need to work on, but you&#8217;ll soon realize that simply be remembering what areas of your body need to pay attention to, you&#8217;ll have a great workout set up in no time flat!</p>
<p>First, think about your back.  Your back contributes to the posture that you assume when you are on the field, and when you are in the gym, head straight for the seated row.  Sit up tall and straight, and as you keep your shoulders back, you should pull the handles towards you.  One way to modify this exercise is to try pulling with only one hand, if the machine allows you to do so.  Always remember to stretch first and to squeeze your stomach muscles to get the most out of the exercises that you are doing.</p>
<p>Also remember that as you work the back, you should also work the abs.  Your abdominal muscles support your back muscles, making up your core, and they work together to bring your body to a point where you can complete a full golf swing.  Take some time to consider what your options are going to be when it comes to working your abs; many golfers prefer the abdominal machines tat will let you twist as you work.</p>
<p>If you are a golfer, of course you are going to need to work on your arms.  This will help you pull your golf club forward faster and you will be able to exert more control over where the ball goes.  Even if you don&#8217;t have a gym membership, consider getting a flat bench and some dumbbells.  While you are on the bench, go from having your arms out straight to bending them at the elbow to a ninety degree angle.  Make sure that you keep your back straight as you do this, and go for a weight that you can lift twelve to twenty times.</p>
<p>Your legs give you a solid swing and they also provide you with the powerful foundation that your swing starts from.  While cardiovascular exercises like jogging will help, don&#8217;t forget to look into the weight machines that will let you straighten your leg against a weight.  Look for machines that will let you assume a seated position and then to extend your legs away from your body and then back up to your chest.</p>
<p>Head to the gym when you want to improve your game.  This can lead to a great improvement in the way that your golf game goes, so don&#8217;t neglect it!</p>
