The Two Areas of Conditioning Required to Improve Your Golf Game.

Whether you are just getting started with your golf game and you want to see big improvement and fast, or you have been at a plateau for quite some time and you are ready to take it to the next level, you’ll soon realize that you need to consider conditioning your body.  As with any sport, remember that a great deal of the results that you see on the field come directly from work that you do off of it!  All pro golfers take the time to condition their bodies, and if you want to get the best kind of performance that you are capable of, you’ll find that you need to think about what areas of your body you need to to condition.

Strength
One thing that might surprise you when you are looking into how to condition your body for the game of golf is that you need to work on your strength.  The truth of the matter is that the more strength you can bring to bear, the more energy you are going to be able to put into your swing.  You will also find that with more strength, you are also going to be able to have more control over the ball and your clubs as well.  Remember that the other face of strength is stability, and when you are looking into getting the power that you need, you need to have a stable foundation.

When you are working on strength to improve your golf game, you will of course think of the obvious muscle groups like your arms and your shoulders, but make sure that you do not disregard things like your core muscles, the muscles of your waist, stomach and chest, either.  These muscles are where you are going to start your swing from, and they are essential when you are thinking of conditioning for the green.

Flexibility
You don’t have to be a yoga guru to be a good golfer, but remember that you are not going to do yourself any favors by being too tight to get a full range of motion.  At the most simple level, think about the fact that your reach extends when you are flexible.  If you are able to relax and to get the full extension of your body without hurting yourself, are going to be able able to get more power out of your frame.  Think about the range of motion that you need to get a perfect golf swing, and think about all the muscles that are involved.  There is a lot going on there, and if you don’t pay attention, you can end up with some bad results.

When you are too tight, you will find that your swing ends up being very short and that your range of motion is going to be very reduced.  Have you watched the pro tours and marveled at how willowy and fluid the pros are?  They have worked on achieving flexibility throughout their torso, hips and shoulders and you should too!

Work on conditioning your strength and your flexibility and get the most out of your game!
