How to Increase The Speed of Your Golf Swing.

When you are feeling pretty good about your control on the green and when you are relatively confident about direction and strength, the next thing that you need to work on is speed.  Power and distance are important, but if you wan to nail those longer drives, you will discover that you are going to need to worry about how fast your can get your club through the air!  Unlike what many salesmen will tell you, the answer to better speed does not lie in a new driver.  If you want more speed, you are going to need to look at your body.

At the end of the day, your body is what dictates how far you can go in golf as well as your limits.  The more time and effort you put in off the green, the more it will show when you go to tee off.  There are lots of jokes, but golfing is a sport, and people who play golf are athletes.  If you want to meet your full potential as an athlete, you are going to need to put the time and the effort into conditioning your body.  No athlete achieves their full potential by slacking off and only working when they get to game days after all!  When you want to improve your golf speed, your best progress is going to come through working off the green.

What are the physics that go into improving the speed of your golf swing?  All that you need to think about is getting the most strength that you can get out of your core muscles and your upper body while maintaining a powerful stance in your lower body.  Essentially, you need these muscles to work together and with gravity, adding more force to your swing and propelling it forward at a more accelerated rate.  You are working against no one but yourself, which is just one thing that makes golf so great.  This is an activity takes is strength, but with the right kind of exercises, you’ll get to where you want to be.

To improve on the speed of your golf swing, you’ll discover that lunges are great.  Start by standing with your arms in front of you, holding a single dumbbell.  Step forward with your left leg while you rotate your body to the left, lifting the weight up to your chest.  Do not overextend, but put on enough pressure at your twist to get the most out of it.  Then step back into a standing position and do this with your other leg.  Do this exercise in 3 sets of 10 repetitions and you will shortly be seeing some improvement.  You wish to exchange the dumbbell out for medicine ball if you are so inclined.

Take some time and really consider what your options are going to be when you are thinking about increasing the speed of your golf swing.  This can help your game in ways that you never imagined so give this exercise a try and see how else you can improve!
