I hurt my upper back 8 days ago playing golf, it is still quite sore. I have been stretching and using rubs?

and using painkillers.Should I see a doctor yet or wait a while longer. I am quite fit and have never had a sore back before.

Painkillers can only mask the pain and have the added problem that you might overdo and stress out your back even more.

When you are in pain your body is trying to tell you essentially not to use this part of the body excessively so that it can heal…
But when you use painkillers that added safety caution is gone and you can hurt a muscle or tendon even more by overusing it when you should essentially back off and give it a break.

But after 8 days of constant pain.. it is time to see a Doctor so that he can run some test and see what is going on with your back.

Well don’t stretch it you could make it worse. What if you pulled or tweaked something? If you stretched it what would happen to it? It’d become more unstable until something snaps.

I’d say go see a doctor, it’s not like you’re going to leave there with one arm or anything.
